Tinubu Returns To Abuja, Set To Swear In New Chief Justice

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the nation’s capital, after a brief working visit to France. He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024.

The President is scheduled to swear in the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) later this morning at the Council Chambers of the State House. This follows the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

President Tinubu departed Abuja for France on Monday for what was described as a “brief working visit.”

On August 15, the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun as the new CJN, following its 106th meeting, to succeed the outgoing Justice Ariwoola.

The swearing-in of Justice Kekere-Ekun is expected to take place at the State House Council Chambers, according to a statement issued on Thursday by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
