Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said he would take responsibility in the event of any failure in the ongoing construction and execution of road projects under the current administration.
Umahi stated this on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, South West of the country at a stakeholders’ engagement on the alignment of the Ondo State 63km segment of the Lagos – Calabar Coastal highway.
Present at the Town Hall meeting were traditional rulers, lawmakers and other stakeholders from within and outside Ondo State for the high level talks alignment on resolving all contending issues in respect of the State’s 63km segment of the road project.
The Minister explained that the project would not be politically driven, but rather serve as a practical improvement to the socio-economic welfare of the people.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in his remarks assured that the project would be diligently monitored to ensure effective utilisation and completion on the part of the contractors.
Aiyedatiwa also disclosed that the State government is partnering the Federal Government to address the perennial Ocean surge In Aiyetoro in Ilaje Local Government Area of the State.
